Ballad of the Wolf
Many Native American tribes considered being compared to the wolf to be the highest praise of a hunter’s ability. The wolf is cunning and stealthy although it never takes more than it needs. The wolf is fiercely protective of its pack and many Native American sought to emulate these traits.
Deer are respected for their great stealth and gathering abilities and would often be followed to ample herb gathering locations that were great for medicine. Deer antler specifically were known to increase ones spiritual awareness giving them great power and sometimes abilities beyond that of a human.

In many cultures the coyote is revered as one who creates, teaches, and sometimes helps humans. The coyote is full of crafty intelligence, stealth , and can sometimes be quite tricksome. The Old Coyote is no longer full of thoughts of trickery but one who teaches and is full of wisdom to pass on to the generations.
